LUNCH BOX Mission
My name is Buddy Muns and I am a 14 year old student from the Devizes area. I have decided to take action on holiday hunger for young children in the area. Every week through the summer holidays I’ll be handing out packed lunches to children in Devizes who might go without a nutritious lunch due to financial issues. With your help, we can make sure no child goes hungry in Devizes this summer.
In Wiltshire, 16% of children rely on free school meals for their lunch and during the holidays, this ‘in school’ provision is not available meaning some children go without regular, nutritious meals. Just one healthy meal a day can impact a child’s energy, focus and happiness. It isn’t just children who get free school meals who are impacted – many families are struggling with the cost of living, I want to help them too.
I need your help!

Why holiday lunches matter
When schools close for summer, so does the in-school free meals provision, leaving many children at risk of hunger. For families already facing financial strain, whether they qualify for free school meals or not, school holiday meals can be difficult to afford.
Did you know?
- Over 2 million children in the UK rely on Free School Meals.
- 1 in 3 children in the UK living in poverty don’t qualify for free school meals.
- A healthy lunch improves focus, behaviour, and long-term wellbeing.
This project isn’t just about food – it’s about a child’s health and happiness.
By helping a child receive a wholesome packed lunch during the school holidays, you are not only meeting their immediate needs but investing in their future too.
